Peak Flow Meters

Products to measure Peak Flow

A peak flow meter measures how fast you can blow air out after taking a big breath in. When you have asthma symptoms your airways narrow and you will have a lower score. When you don’t have asthma symptoms your airways are open wide and your score will be higher. The scores depend on how much effort you put into blowing so it is important to blow as hard as you can.

Why use a Peak Flow Meter? You can measure how good or bad your asthma is, rather than just guessing how you feel. Peak flow readings can be incorporated into your Asthma Action Plan so you will know if your treatment needs changing. You can find out if your asthma treatment is working. It is a record you can show your doctor on your next visit.
