This course has been endorsed by the Royal College of Nursing Australia for 3 CNE points
The Emergency Asthma Management is nationally recognised by the Australian National Training Authority, and endorsed by the Royal College of Nursing Australia. This short course is designed to educate health professionals and other care workers how to respond to an asthma emergency. The course examines symptom recognition, assessment of severity, medications and delivery devices.
Who is it for?
This course is most beneficial for Nurses, Allied Health Professionals and Aged Care Workers as a refresher or to update their knowledge on how to manage an asthma emergency. It is also suitable for Ambulance Officers, Pharmacy Assistants and First Aid Training Providers with a specific interest in asthma.
Course Content:
The 3-hour course is delivered in 2 parts:
First module (2 hrs):
The core module is designed to present a broad overview of asthma, the management of asthma and issues surrounding effective management. A hands on approach is taken allowing participants to explore and become familiar with the range of devices used in the delivery of asthma medication.
Second module (1 hr):
The elective module instructs participants in the 4x4x4 Emergency Asthma Protocol. The module is tailored to the needs of the group. Four modules are available:
