The symptoms include breathlessness (particularly with activity), coughing and chest tightness. People with chronic lung conditions also commonly experience anxiety and depression.
This session can be used as an introduction to managing a Chronic Lung Condition or as a refresher for someone who has attended a Pulmonary Rehabilitation course.

Chronic Lung Conditions in Australia
Some of the risk factors for developing Chronic Lung Conditions include:
- Smoking
- Occupational exposure to irritants
- Passive smoking
- Air pollution (indoor and outdoor)
- Recurrent chest infections in childhood
- Genetic predisposition
Living well with a chronic lung condition requires more than just medication. Other things such as exercise, nutrition, breathing exercises, stopping smoking and managing the emotional side of the condition all help improve the quality of life for someone with a chronic lung condition.
