COPD Workshop (1-day)
This course has been endorsed by the Royal College of Nursing Australia for 7 CNE points
This workshop aims to improve awareness of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) among health professionals. The workshop examines the clinical features, diagnosis and management of COPD, including pharmacological management and nebuliser usage. It also includes a practical introduction to spirometry. Keynote speakers will address specialty topics such as pharmacology, oxygen therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation. On completion of the workshop, participants will be able to apply evidence-based models to the diagnosis and management of COPD.

The Course:

• Pathophysiology of COPD
• The physical and psychosocial profile of people with COPD
• Medications for the management of respiratory disease
• Nebuliser usage and selection
• Guidelines for the management of COPD
• Oxygen therapy; indications, assessment, domiciliary oxygen
• Pulmonary rehabilitation
• Introduction to performing and interpreting spirometry
