Asthma in the Workplace
Australian workplaces are impacted directly by this disorder and in particular by poorly controlled or poorly managed asthma.
Factors of concern for employers are:
- Absenteeism related to individual employees
- Absenteeism of parents caring for children with asthma
- Lowered productivity
Employers can create a safer work environment by training their staff to recognise and respond to an asthma emergency.
Do employees from your organisation know what to do if someone had an asthma attack?
Asthma First Aid Training can be provided at your workplace (1-hour)
The training is conducted by a qualified asthma educator. Topics include:
- Signs and symptoms of asthma
- Strategies to minimise occupational triggers in your workplace
- Assessing the severity of an asthma attack
- First Aid management of an asthma emergency
- Using an Asthma Emergency Kit (practical)
How can your workplace become Asthma Friendly?
When training is complete, your workplace has an opportunity to be recognised as Asthma Friendly and receive a FREE Asthma Emergency Kit and 25% discount on subsequent kits.
There is no cost to become Asthma Friendly, and this status remains for a two year period. Once you have completed the training, the Asthma Friendly Coordinator will assist you in the process.
Training Cost
$250 per session, including all resources (approximately 20 people)
Asthma Emergency Kits are available at the Foundation. $35 per kit.
